Boonton Redevelopment
Boonton Redevelopment Plan Goals
The goal of the Boonton Redevelopment Plan is to achieve an effective redevelopment approach. A plan must be a comprehensive community driven design, a mixed land use approach effort that serves the wider interests of all stakeholders. Objectives are driven by the mandates established under the latest Boonton Master Plan and enhancements derived from further research and community interests.
Preservation of historic elements, the enhancement of historic identities that is structured around a central theme, should be critical element of the Plan's revitalization effort. Given past and current identity as a transportation crossroads, redevelopment should also focus and embrace a center for transportation and technology research. Another theme of the Plan, is the focus on green technology and energy conservation.
Fundamentally, redevelopment must solve the critical concerns of reducing tax burden, solving infrastructure issues related to parking, road/traffic circulation, providing residential housing for seniors and young adults, while revitalizing Boonton's legacy of cultural arts, while preserving/enhancing open space/recreational needs.
